Sugata’s Hole in the Wall Project is a famous piece of field research in education. In some of the poorest regions of India, he placed the latest computers into walls. He provided no context or support and watched to see who came to the wall and tried to make sense of the piece of technology embedded there.

From a standard start it was the young people who explored the technology and came to understand its uses, they did their own research, made relationships beyond their village and country and used them to give knowledge to their communities.
