Why I love…Eduqas Anthology: Blog Series 6 – She Walks in Beauty Byron | susansenglish

Byron is well known as a historical lothario figure, who loved women and had an impressive reputation with them. He was engaged at the time of writing this poem (about his cousin who he spotted at a funeral) and while the poem appears to be about love on the surface, there is a much subtler undertone and I think it is more about the intangible feelings that you get upon looking at someone beautiful. There is a suggestion that this poem is about Byron appreciating the aesthetic beauty of the female figure and less about falling in love.
